Both put you shoulder-to-shoulder with the team behind Monad, a high-performance parallel EVM Layer-1 that launched public mainnet on November 24, 2025 and pushes for 10,000 TPS with sub-second finality. What Monad is and who runs it
Monad is an EVM-compatible Layer-1 built for throughput. It uses parallel execution, deferred execution, and its own MonadBFT consensus to process independent transactions simultaneously, targeting roughly 10,000 TPS, around 0.8s finality, and 0.4s block times while staying byte-for-byte compatible with the Ethereum toolchain. That means Solidity, Foundry, Hardhat, and existing EVM contracts work with little to no changes.
The chain is backed by Monad Labs and the Monad Foundation. The foundation runs the developer programs, including Blitz, the evm/accathon, and the broader Monad Momentum ecosystem rewards program. Mainnet went live in late 2025, and by early 2026 the ecosystem had grown to hundreds of millions in TVL and hundreds of deployed projects.
Monad Blitz: dates, format, and prizes
Monad Blitz is a traveling one-day IRL hackathon. Since launching in May 2025, it has run more than 40 editions worldwide and, by mid-2026, brought roughly 1,700 unique developers into the ecosystem. There is no single Blitz date. It is a rolling series, with recent and upcoming stops including Mumbai, Pune, NYC, and Bogotá. The format is deliberately compressed:
- Morning workshops to get you productive on Monad's parallel EVM.
- Roughly seven hours of heads-down building, solo or in teams of up to three.
- Live demos to the room, with winners chosen by live audience vote.
Individual Blitz editions typically award around $5,000 in prizes, with Top 3 cash awards. Prize pools can vary by city, so confirm the number on the specific event's registration page rather than assuming.
evm/accathon: the flagship hybrid hackathon
The evm/accathon was Monad's inaugural larger hackathon, run by the Monad Foundation as a hybrid event. The first edition ran in-person around ETHDenver (February 24-25) and then online through March 12, with a prize pool of over $100,000. Reported awards included $20,000 USDC for first place, $12,000 for second, and $8,000 for third, each paired with infrastructure credits, plus milestone-based funding and a Monad Builder Residency in NYC for top teams. Suggested focus areas covered AI, DeFi, NFTs and gaming, tooling, and consumer and social apps.

How to actually win a Monad hackathon
Winning Blitz is not about the most ambitious idea. It is about a working demo that a room of fellow builders votes for. That shapes the strategy.
Build for the room, not the whitepaper
Blitz winners are picked by live audience vote. Ship something that reads instantly: a consumer dApp, a game, a trading tool, an agent, anything with a clear "watch this work" moment. Judges who are also builders reward polish and a clean live demo over a half-working protocol.
Exploit what makes Monad different
Monad's edge is speed and parallelism. Build something that visibly needs high throughput or fast finality: real-time onchain games, high-frequency trading interfaces, agent swarms, or anything that would feel sluggish on a slower chain. Show the performance, do not just claim it.
Scope brutally and rehearse the demo
You have about seven hours. Pick one feature, get it working on testnet, and spend real time on the two-minute demo. A tight, confident presentation beats a sprawling project that stalls on stage.
Use the room
Founders, ecosystem leads, and investors building on Monad are physically present at Blitz. Talk to them. Post your build. The relationships you make in that room often matter more than the cash prize.
Why building here positions you for what airdrops look at
This is the real reason to show up. Monad's own MON airdrop, which distributed billions of tokens in October and November 2025, included a dedicated Builders track. That track allocated tokens to team members of Monad-native projects and to developers who took part in developer challenges, explicitly naming Monad Blitzes and Monad Missions as qualifying activity.
Read that carefully. Monad already used verifiable builder activity, including its hackathons, as an eligibility signal in a real token distribution. The ongoing Monad Momentum program continues to route rewards toward builders and early users. Being a real, deployed, hackathon-shipping developer on a new L1 is exactly the profile that ecosystems point to when they design future incentives.
